Disposition:Obfuscating Stupidity: Kinda like a refuge in audacity, Cayde is one of those people who aren't stupid, but are definitely an idiot. To some degree it's an act, but even he couldn't tell you where the line is. One part being thought of as a dumbass lets him get away with things he wouldn't normally, another part the class clown not wanting people to know there's depth to him, and a third part that's a complete lack of impulse control.
Jokester: This is probably the quality that makes people write him off the fastest, and honestly he's fine with it. Cayde is almost always quick with a joke or some stupid one-liner regardless of the tone of conversation, alongside which he's known to play pranks on his friends, show up to mission control uninvited and unhelpfully, push off the more mundane parts of his job on to other people, and just generally make himself seem as unsuited to the role of massive responsibility he has as possible. That's not to say he never takes things seriously, because he does, but those moments seem few and far between to people who don't know him. Even his most vulnerable moments are short and often broken quickly by his need to keep things light.
Investigative: Cayde has a number of side projects that effectively boil down to looking into things on his own. The biggest one being the origin of Exos; unfortunately he died before a lot of that history was uncovered, because between his journals and voice messages scattered around it's clear he's been looking into it for most of this life.
Further to that, he has a real habit of taking things on on his own and leaping into situations on the fly. Most of the time it works out for him, but then other times he falls into a pit of undead Eliksni lead by people who know to take out his Ghost to render him mortal. Just to give an example.
Like seemingly every Hunter Vanguard before him, Cayde took the position out of obligation and resented it for pretty much most of his tenure. Would he call himself a free spirit? Probably, but as a joke, but he very much is. His own description of Hunters is that they belong in the wilds, and being forced to stay in one place near enough all day every day was borderline suffocating for him. He longs for the wilderness, for seeing new things and finding weird treasures.
Hoarder: He'd call it being prepared, but he is. He's a hoarder. He just doesn't keep it in his home. He's someone who finds random tech and weapons or bits of information and hides them away, literally had hidden caches of random stuff strewn across the solar system.
He enjoys a good story, and doesn't feel like they need to be true. The truth is in the telling, not the facts. Which is a nice way to say he will sometimes embellish and other times outright lie if it suits the narrative. The narrative usually being making himself sound cool.
Straightforward: He has the building blocks of someone who loves stealth and subterfuge, but honestly Cayde is almost hilariously straightforward about dealing with problems. See an enemy? Shoot it. See an obstacle? Get around it. He doesn't have patience for arguing the things that need to be done, so much as he wants to just get them done.
Suitability: Honestly? Cayde's going to love it here. Well, most of it. Synchrony is going to be a bit of a struggle — he could probably count the people he's been close to in his long, long life on his hands — but that will likely come just by virtue of his being a people person. Everything else though, that's extremely his jam. He loves new planets, new places, weird new stuff in general. He's curious and nosey and that will be turned on Noctium with the casual aloofness only a 100% authentic Cool Guy like him can muster.
Condition upon arrival: Pretty badly beat up, but provided he's allowed to have Sundance and she can keep her healing abilities, she can fix it. Or someone else can, he's not gonna refuse help.
Abilities: Oh boy.
Inventory:1 Set of Hunter Armour. Since his armour isn't available in-game, I couldn't tell you what the perks are so we'll just act as if they don't have any. His Cloak. Like the rest of his armour, we'll just ignore perks. It's just important because it belonged to an old friend. Sundance: Sundance is his Ghost, his sentient lil' robot buddy. She's never given any dialogue in the game or lore, but is described as being just like him. Ace of Spades. A handgun that features powerful and explosive rounds, low recoil, and the ability to move rounds into the magazine without manually reloading.
Gembond: Amethyst
Gem Location: The tip of his horn. Like a gold cap on a pyramid but it's his stupid horn. (Sundance's will mirror his, the gold embellishments on her shell replaced with amethyst.)

- Exo
- This one's pretty short actually. Exos were built to be durable bodies for humanity, in practice this made them mistakenly thought of as war machines in the future owing to their strength, endurance, and the fact that they rarely get tired. So, super tough robots.
- Guardian
- Ghost: Cayde's ghost, Sundance, is the source of his powers as a Guardian. Alongside being his little light-powered battery pack, she's able to revive and heal him — though in Noctium she'll lose her revival ability — has the ability to hack and interface with various technology (at mod/player discretion,) scan lifeforms, (again, at mod/player discretion,) provide him with a radar that just gives an idea of where people/enemies/etc. are in relation to him, and function as a hands-free comms device! With her own input on occasion.
- Guardians have extremely enhanced strength, stamina & durability. Aliens hate them.
- Hunter: Hunters are Destiny's version of rogues, and as such they are agile, annoying, and squishy. They're made for maneuverability, accuracy, and stealth. Where Titans and Warlocks have their methods for staying put, Hunters come equipped with triple jumps and quick dodges to stay out of harm's way instead.
- Gunslinger Even though arcstrider and nighstalker are both basekit as of D2, we're just gonna toss them both right out the window and focus on Cayde's preferred subclass. Gunslingers are the coolest subclass anyway. They harness Solar Light to give all of their fancy powers some nice fire. They can use it in the form of grenades — of which Cayde prefers the tripmine, which is what it says on the tin — or throwing knives. They also have their Super which comes in three forms: Two types of Golden Gun, one that focuses on accuracy or another that's effectively fanning the hammer, or Blade Barrage which is. Well it's just a lot of knives.
I'm not completely sure how to explain Radiance and Cayde died before Solar 3.0 anyway so let's not get into that. - He does, during his Last Stand scene, get pulled out of his super and then switch to a different one half a minute later which is generally something only pretty powerful guardians can do. That's information I'm not really sure what to do with.
- General
- Marksman: Cayde's accuracy is commented on a decent few times, and demonstrated fairly well in his final scene versus the Scorn where he's there nailing headshots without even looking. (It makes sense, considering his signature gun's perk activates on precision kills.) In general, he's a highly capable fighter and it shows.
- Tinkerer: He's shown to be fairly adept with technology, modifying armour pieces to give, uh. Lucky benefits in the crucible, and modifying alien technology. He's no gunsmith or engineer, but he can jury rig a lot of things to do what he needs.
